This role offers you an exciting opportunity to become involved in organisation making a difference and to use and develop your support skills within our Central Lakes, Alexandra, and Cromwell area community. Our work is undertaken alongside disabled people, their family/whanau, and supports the individual’s needs in a person directed, creative way, making a difference in the community.

Note: For this Community Support Worker position, we require either a Level 3 or 4 New Zealand Certificates in Health and Wellbeing, or several years of working experience within the Health Sector.

As a Community Support Worker, you will:

Ensure that disabled people can live in their own homes and participate in their own community by accessing opportunities of their choosing as detailed in their Personal Plan.

Ensure the support provided will promote confidence, skill building, independence, quality of life and inclusion within the family/whanau and the wider community.

Our organisation takes a social, rather than medical approach, supporting disabled people to live their best lives. We are guided by the Enabling Good Lives principles, shifting power and authority back to disabled people and their families, to increase choice and control in their lives.

About you

We are looking for someone who is able to demonstrate the following personal skills and attributes, and professional skills and knowledge:

Initiative, be reliable and flexible.

A positive attitude and a talent for developing supportive interactions.

The ability to relate well to a diverse arrange of people.

Experience supporting disabled people would be a distinct advantage.

Strong connections to the community.

The ability to work independently, but also in a team environment.

A willingness to work with people we support to achieve their goals.

On the job learning, ongoing support to achieve L3 and L4 Health and Wellbeing Certificates.

Full Driving Licence and own transportation.

Strong communication and relationship building skills.
