Appliance Service Technician or Senior Technician
We are looking for a Nelson or Motueka based Appliance Repair Technician to work alongside our current Technicians, repairing domestic whiteware/appliances. (Ovens, cooktops etc, Washing machines, Dryers, Dishwashers, Fridges, etc).
We have opening for both a Technician, (I.E. on the road repairing appliances,) or a Senior technician, someone with exceptional diagnostic skills and experience, able to help our other technicians with the tricky jobs, help with supervising/training apprentices,
Note, This Position requires a Electrical registration and practicing licence, and prior appliance repair experience. We are already training two apprentices so we aren't able to take on another at this stage. We are looking for someone who can hop straight into a van after they have got up to speed with our company systems.
We are offering:- $30-35/hour for an Experienced Technician, depending on your abilities.
- $38-$40 for a Senior Technician
- Work in a environment where getting it right is more important than getting it done quick.
- Van, including for limited personal use
- Phone, Laptop.
- No overtime, weekend, or on-call required- work life balance is important.
- Flexibility in time off, you don’t need to apply for leave, just tell us when you will be away.
- Regular in-house training to keep your skills fresh
- Current Electrical Registration and Practicing licence. (EAS, EASQ, EST etc)
- Several years experience in the common brands of NZ appliances.
- Good electrical understanding and fault finding skills, (not just guessing fault A means replace part B)
- Experience with refrigeration a bonus but not required.
- Self motivated and able to manage your time and work unsupervised.
- Drivers licence
- Able to pass a background test.
- Computer Literate, we run a paperless system
- Sealed system experience
- Maytag/Speed Queen commercial laundry machine experience
- Very good electrical theory understanding, can draw a wiring diagram and explain common appliance components/systems.
- Very good diagnostic skills
- Good communication skills, to teach other technicians and also to communicate with tricky customers.

Motueka Appliance Repairs Limited started about 10 years as a sole trader, now we have three technicians, an apprentice, and two office admins. We repair most brands of Whiteware both in and out of warranty. We have a workshop in Motueka, and a workshop in Tahunanui trading under the name Tasman Appliance Repairs.We are Warranty Service agents for many brands including Miele, Bosch, etc.
