MENTAL HEALTH & ADDICTION SERVICE – COUNSELLING PRACTITIONER VACANCY – INVERCARGILL
Nga Kete Matauranga Pounamu Charitable Trust (NKMP) is seeking an experienced Mental Health/Alcohol and Addictions Practitioner to work with whanau in our Invercargill office.
Mahana Southern Maori Mental Health and Addiction Service is a southern-wide service offering one-on-one counselling, group work, experiential learning, education and information, and wananga-based interventions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide confidential support to tangata whaiora with mild to moderate mental health and addiction needs
- Work with individuals, whanau, and groups using Maori-based therapeutic approaches
- Communicate effectively and work well both independently and in a team
- Apply strong knowledge of drug treatment modalities and complete thorough assessments and documentation
- Stay calm under pressure and manage time efficiently
- Hold a current NZ driver’s licence
- Understand Maori and non-Maori networks across Southland
- Demonstrate knowledge of Tikanga Maori, Te Reo, and kaupapa Maori practice
- Hold relevant mental health and/or addiction qualifications
- Be DAPAANZ, NZAC or similar registered or working toward registration
