Diesel Mechanic - Gisborne

We are currently seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join a well-established company in Gisborne. With over 40 years of trusted service in construction, maintenance, manufacturing and repair across the agricultural, timber, and heavy industries, this employer offers stability, a modern workshop, and a supportive team environment.

The Role This is a varied, hands-on position with work both in the workshop and out in the field. You'll be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel engines and heavy machinery while ensuring all work is completed to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities:

• Diagnose faults and carry out repairs on diesel engines and machinery
• Service and maintain vehicles and heavy equipment
• Complete scheduled maintenance (oil changes, tune-ups, etc.)
• Dismantle and reassemble engines and transmissions
• Keep accurate job records and manage part orders
• Provide excellent customer support and work closely with the team
• Comply with all health and safety procedures

• Trade certification in Diesel Mechanics (NZ or overseas equivalent)
• Minimum 2 years' relevant experience
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and within a team
• Full driver's licence
• Experience with hydraulics, forestry, or heavy machinery is advantageous
