Home Based Educators – Central Otago & Southland

We’re looking for warm, reliable Home Based Educators across Central Otago and Southland. This is a professional, self employed ECE role where you provide education and care for children in your own home, with full support from a licensed ECE service and a qualified Visiting Teacher.

What the Role Involves Home Based Educators are early childhood professionals who:- Create safe, nurturing, learning rich environments
- Build strong relationships with whanau
- Plan learning experiences with guidance from a Visiting Teacher
- Provide education and care from their own homes
This is a licensed, regulated ECE role — not casual babysitting.
Requirements (Please read before applying)- A compliant home (10sqm indoor play space + fully fenced outdoor area)
- NZ residency or citizenship
- Full driver’s licence + reliable vehicle
- ECE/Primary qualification or willingness to complete the Level 4 ECE Certificate (19 week online course)

Your income depends on the hours you choose to work.
- Most educators work 20–40 hours per week
- You can enrol up to four children (varies if you have your own child at home)
- With four children, the minimum hourly rate can be around $40/hr
