Community Support Worker
Full time - 40 hours per week
$23.97 - $29.68 per hour

As a **Community Support Worker** in our **Intensive Respite Service** you will be a pivotal part of a multi-disciplinary and collaborative team, providing crisis support for young people.
We are looking for resilient, dedicated people to make a difference in the lives of a young people, at a time that is critical for them and their families/whanau.
The role will work with colleagues, family/whanau, professionals and external agencies such as **Starship Hospital** to provide a temporary home for young people in a time of crisis.
This is a dual role, meaning you'll primarily work as a Community Support worker in our Intensive Respite Service, and **periodically in our supported living service, working with people living great lives, and undertaking tasks that depend on the needs and dreams of each person, enabling full engagement in activities.**

- You'll be **positive** and **energetic,** and will be willing to work with young people as they first enter the service and with the youths accessing transitional accommodation.
**It's essential** that you have:
- A full New Zealand driver's licence
- Availability to work 8 hour shifts, on a 24/7 roster
- Reliability, Resilience, and Passion for working with people
- Experience working with youths and informed about youth culture and issues
- Energy to keep up with someone who likes to be on the go a lot
- Ability to remain calm, and calming, in all situations
- Resilience to help people keep boundaries to ensure their safety
- Good at explaining and negotiating
- Ability to communicate effectively and supportively with family, colleagues and the person you support
- Ability and willingness to provide support and motivation with personal cares and daily living skills
- Excellent, clear, understandable verbal and written English is a pre-requisite to be considered for this role
- An interest in attaining a Community Support Worker Level Three or above qualification- we can support you to achieve this while you work
- Experience supporting people with disabilities, and or mental health issues, and/or behaviours that can be challenging
- Reliability, commitment, and passion for working with people
- A full New Zealand driver's licence
- Able to pass a NZ police check
- The ability to use a computer effectively, including programs such as Word, Internet Explorer, and email
If you are a non-resident applying for this role you must meet the following INZ Level 3 skill requirements to be considered:
- Have worked in the care workforce for 3 years or more, and been paid at least the care workforce wage rate during that time or• A relevant qualification on the New Zealand Qualifications and Credentials Framework (NZQCF) — this must be at least a level 4 qualification for a role at skill level 3, or a diploma for a role at skill level 2.
