Whangarei, Northland, New ZealandFixed term full-time, training position from August 2026 to January 2027Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is firmly grounded in the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and is committed to building a health system that serves all New Zealanders.About the RoleApplications are invited for a full-time position as an Obstetrics & Gynaecology Fellow (Advanced Trainee) at Health New Zealand, Te Tai Tokerau, commencing August 2026.Based at the Whangārei Hospital with outreach services to Bay of Islands; Kaitaia, Dargaville and Rawene Hospitals, this role will meet the requirements for the Advanced Training Modules in General Obstetrics and General Gynaecology.The O&G department has eight Senior Medical Officers supported by a team of seven house officers, many of whom complete the O&G diploma and some of whom go on to specialist training.

Northland presents many challenges and opportunities, with high rates of deprivation and chronic disease. There are about 2000 births annually in the region, with about a third of the Northland population identifying as Māori.It is expected that the successful candidate will deliver a substantial clinical workload, and this post will offer adequate opportunities to meet the requirements of the Advanced Training Modules.
There will also be opportunities for teaching and supervision of house officers and students.
