About the roleThe position holder will work as a physician in one of the nine General Medicine inpatient teams at Wellington Hospital, in the provision of acute inpatient care to adult patients.The physician will provide consultant services and leadership for the medical team to facilitate provision of appropriate high quality service to the patients that come under his/her care and commits to maintaining a collaborative and collegial professional environment.In General Medicine, the position holder will participate in the after-hours roster.
As part of this roster when they are the designated on-call physician of the day Monday to Friday they will be based on site in MAPU between 1200 and 2000 hrs.Details of the roster are contained within the attached job description.

We provide acute inpatient care to adult patients.Our Team is composed of Senior Medical Officers, Registrars and House Officers, reporting to our Clinical Lead for General Medicine.Capital, Coast and Hutt Valley district is located centrally in Wellington and has over 6,000 full-time equivalent staff, making us one of the major employers in the Wellington region.
We operate three hospitals- Wellington Regional Hospital in Newtown, Hutt Valley Hospital and Kenepuru Hospital in Porirua
