Heat Pump Technician or Trade Assistant – Dunedin

We’re looking for a Heat Pump Technician or Trade Assistant with refrigeration experience to support our Trade Services team based in Dunedin. This role involves assisting with the installation, servicing, and maintenance of heat pump systems.

Pay rate: $30 - $35

Responsibilities:

• Install, maintain, and service a range of heat pump systems, including high-wall and ducted units.
• Assist in refrigerant pipework, wiring, testing, and commissioning to New Zealand standards.
• Work under the direction of a senior technician or independently depending on experience.
• Follow all site safety procedures and ensure work complies with relevant NZ regulations.

Requirements:

• Proven experience in refrigeration, HVAC, or heat pump installation (minimum 1 year preferred).
• Understanding of refrigerant handling and system diagnostics.
• Familiarity with NZ Building Code, AS/NZS 5149, and related standards.
• Current Refrigerant Handling Licence, EST, or equivalent (preferred but not essential).
• Physically fit and comfortable working in ceiling spaces and on ladders.
• Strong communication skills and a professional approach to customer interaction.
