About the RoleThe Paediatric Speech Language Therapist works with children, their families/whanau and the Child Health Service team to provide a Speech Language Therapy service with appropriate assessment and techniques used and ensures NZ Speech Language Therapists National Standards of Practice are met.All clients/families are treated in a culturally appropriate manner.You will assist children with Speech and Language and/or feeding and swallowing difficulties.This is a permanent, part time position (0.6 FTE) based in Whangarei and working Monday - Friday who would suit a SLT who has the ability to be flexible, versatile and open to change and can work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
About the Team/Service/ LocationFor more information on living and working in Northland, click here About youEssential Skills & ExperienceDegree in Speech Language Therapy or equivalentCurrent Registration with NZSTAPrevious experience working in the field of Speech Language TherapyExcellent English language communication skills (both oral and written)Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growthExperience in projects / initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principals and frameworks, and the application of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings.Whilst not essential; the following education and/or skills are desirable for this position:A course in Dysphagia (as part of training or as post graduate course)Makaton trainingExperience in signing Working at Health New ZealandHealth New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is dedicated to ensuring excellent healthcare for the people of New Zealand.
