Part time – Yard hand
Norwest is a top performing deconstruction and recycled materials organisation that has been supporting the building industry surrounding the Nelson Tasman region for the past 20 years. Leading the deconstruction of infrastructure and continuously identifying opportunities to support the reduction of waste by diverting from landfill by recycling and repurposing materials.
We are seeking that person that is passionate about recycled timber and architectural salvage to assist with the processing of unwanted building structures and internal strip outs.Our positive workplace culture, focus on health and safety and reducing waste from landfill are important values of Norwest.
The position is part time with a minimum of 30 hours per week Mon-Fri (Hours Negotiable)
Key Responsibilities- Joinery Experience is an advantage.
- Timber Knowledge an advantage.
- Sawmill experience is a bonus – although training will be given.
- Operate specialised tools and vehicles in accordance with relevant licence.
- Adhere to information given, company policies and procedures
- Process timber and house parts for resale.
- Carry out any other general duties as required from time to time.
- Knowledge of basic building and deconstruction methods and terms
- Understanding of the need for Health and Safety protocols and a commitment to follow them.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the job (standing for lengthy periods of time, working outside, lifting)
- Familiarity with power tools and heavy machinery.
- Strong work ethic
- Good attention to detail and follow through.
- Acts appropriately and effectively within a team.
- Holds a full NZ driver’s license.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
Competitive remuneration will be offered based on relevant qualifications and experience. The successful candidate will be prepared to undertake a pre-employment health check including a drug test.
