About Us

At Te Ara Mahi (TeAM), we know that employment and education are fundamental to overall wellbeing, financial stability, and a greater sense of purpose. Our TeAM actively supports people to find and maintain meaningful employment and reach their goals.

TeAM Employment Specialists work one-on-one with people to assist with all aspects of their employment search (from CV development, job brokering, to interview prep and on-the-job training). We work closely with mental health providers to deliver a wraparound employment support service.

The Role

The IPS Supervisor’s role is to provide oversight of TeAM’s IPS service delivery, mentor and supervise IPS Employment Specialists and ensure good service outcomes for clients. Modelling how to build positive and fruitful relationships with employers and jobseekers is a key function of the role, based on experience and a confident approach.

This supportive role relies on excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to foster and coach Employment Specialists’ development in their practice. The Supervisor will also manage their own small caseload of clients and strongly model their work to other staff.

This involves -

  • Field mentoring - working alongside Employment Specialists to create jobs and develop a strong community network of employers
  • Liaising with employers, community organisations and Mental Health clinicians.
  • Monitoring Employment Specialists’ employment outcomes and working with the TeAM Manager to support staff and clients

Suitable candidates will have several years' experience working with and professionally developing a team, working in a health environment and have strong skills that will support their work with employers. This is an active, community-based role which requires great communication and coaching skills, good IT skills and a commitment to staff development, attention to detail and planning.

This is a 0.8 FTE role and some flexibility is required. The role is primarily based in Nelson/ Tasman but will require regular scheduled travel to work with TeAMs in Marlborough and the West Coast.
