Role: Endocrine Fellow Registrar, based at Waikato Hospital Fixed Term one yearFellow (Post Fellowship Training accredited) Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is firmly grounded in the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and is committed to building a health system that serves all New Zealanders.
About the RoleThe Endocrine Surgery fellowship position is a full time one, and includes both elective and acute surgery. It is a recognized ANZES (Australia and New Zealand Endocrine Surgeons) post fellowship training position for Endocrine surgery.Participation in the on-call senior registrar roster is required.
The spectrum of work the Fellow will be exposed to is broad but also provides a large volume of subspecialty work. The Fellow will be exposed to a high volume of tertiary endocrine surgery, including thyroid, parathyroid and adrenal gland surgery.
There is also opportunity for the Endocrine Surgery Fellow to be involved a large range of other general surgery experience, including trauma.The Fellow position is part of the General Surgery Department and is available for the 2025/2026 year for 12 months.
The Fellow will be on the after-hours registrar roster, excluding night duty. Applications are called from doctors qualified in general surgery to FRACS level or equivalent who are or will be eligible for registration with the New Zealand Medical Council.

Waikato Hospital has a busy elective and acute General Surgical service and provides tertiary care for Breast, Endocrine, Colorectal, Upper gastrointestinal, Hepatobiliary, Bariatric, and Trauma surgery.
