Ecological Restoration Team Member - Tauranga

Wildlands are seeking an Ecological Restoration Field Team Member to work fulltime to assist our Tauranga Branch, based at Tauriko.
The role is to undertake ecological restoration work which includes pest plant control, planting and pest animal control.
It is essential that you have a willingness to contribute and work in a team, are physically fit, and have a passion for working outdoors in all sorts of weather. The work involves the use of agrichemicals (herbicides), animal toxins (poisons), and handling carcasses through trapping.Some work may involve staying away in remote areas in basic accommodation.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience- A positive attitude
- A genuine interest in working in the outdoors and achieving conservation goals
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Good decision making and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and within a team
- A good work ethic, efficient and H&S conscious
- A good level of fitness
- Full NZ drivers’ licence (preferred)
On the job training and mentoring will be provided, including:
- Agrichemical handling (mixing and application)
- Pest plant control methods
- Pest animal control methods
- Plant identification
- Planting
- Handheld GPS use
- Use and maintenance of hand tools/machinery
Additional formal training will be provided as appropriate, and may include:
- Growsafe
- Controlled substance licence
- Chainsaw
- 4WD
- LUV
