We're looking for an experienced Senior Advisor, who has technical expertise in Ministerial servicing, sound judgement and political awareness, and a positive and enthusiastic attitude.
We are specifically wanting someone who is interested in working as a Private Secretary in a Minister's office.Mō te tūnga | About the roleAs a Senior Advisor, you'll manage complex and sensitive requests and be able to juggle a range of work.
Your core responsibilities, along with the other Senior Advisors in the team, will include: Providing advice on and drafting replies to Official Information Act (OIA) requests, proactive releases, parliamentary questions, Ministerial correspondence, and other requests from Ministers' offices.
Leading and coordinating responses to Annual Review and Estimates Examination questions and processes.Supporting other reporting and periodic requirements, such as weekly reporting and tracking advice to Ministers.
You will do this by collaborating with Ministry business groups and Ministers' offices to source information and ensure that quality and timeliness standards are met.
You will also review work completed by other advisors and be involved in coaching and mentoring advisors within the team.
This is an established permanent role, reporting to the Manager Government Services, within the Communications and Government Services team.
The wider team includes Private Secretaries who are seconded into Ministers' offices and we are looking for someone who could be seconded into a portfolio Private Secretary role in future.
The salary range for this role is between $105,780- $129,286 + 3% KiwiSaver contribution.
Appointment within this salary range will be based on skills and experience.

Strong writing and communication skills, with excellent attention to detail.Confidence building relationships and connections with stakeholders within short periods of time.A strong service ethic, to take ownership of your work and drive it through to delivery.
An interest in being seconded to a Minister's office as a Private Secretary.
