The Opportunity

We’re looking for an experienced Workshop Mechanic to join our Westgate crew on a permanent basis. Working on a variety of vehicle brands, this role involves proactive and reactive maintenance, COF inspections, and day-to-day repairs across our fleet.

Experience with electric vehicles will be a bonus as we transition toward a more sustainable future.

Ritchies is one of Aotearoa New Zealand’s leading passenger transport companies with a team of more than 2,000 people providing coach and charter services right across the country.

We partner with regional councils and schools to supply public transport services as well as offering a range of bus and coach hire services to businesses and the general public. You would be joining us at an exciting time in Ritchies’ history as we gear up to decarbonise our fleet and move to a more sustainable public transport model.

About You
  • You are a skilled mechanic looking for a change, you want to work for a company that values your skills and work ethic. You ready to make the move!
  • You take pride in your work, you’re a team player and you don’t hesitate to ‘go the extra mile’ to get tasks completed in a timely manner.
  • You follow instructions and do the right thing. You’re comfortable working by yourself and have a strong level of written and spoken English
  • You’re capable of servicing and doing repairs as well as detecting and diagnosing faults.
  • You know what the expectation is with Waka Kotahi and follow regulations.
  • You have an interest in working on buses!
Your Skills; * NZQA L4 Heavy Automotive Qualification/ equivalent automotive workshop experience
  • Current New Zealand Drivers’ License Class 1 (ideally up to Class 4)
  • Eye for detail
  • Health and safety conscious
  • Physically capable of lifting up to 25kgs
  • Tech savvy

EV experience is a bonus
