The Ministry prides itself in valuing integrity, excellence, and collaboration.Ngā whakamārama mō te tūnga | About the opportunityWe implemented our new HR and payroll system iCHRIS at the Ministry in July 2024, and we are looking for a person to be our in-house organisational expert in following areas:Operational fortnightly payrollSystems administrationReporting and analysisKey responsibilities include:End to end fortnightly processing payroll, remit PAYE and other tax forms, KiwiSaver, ACC and similar reporting and return requirements.
Ensure deductions are correctly calculated, authorised and paid to the appropriate external agenciesPayroll/HRIS system support, advice and services for the organisation to ensure that all employees receive accurate and timely Payroll/HRIS servicesSystem and/or process improvements and/or issues are consistently reviewed, identified, leading and managing the implementation and testing of any improvements and scheduled maintenanceProviding accurate and timely people information to assist managers and senior leadership in making business decisionsProviding analysis, management and reporting of quantitative and qualitative information primarily through Excel to SLT and people leaders, staff and the Public Service Commission.What you'll bringStrong proven experience in the following areas:End to end payroll processing,Finding solutions to technical problems, and,Data extraction, manipulation, analysis and presentation of data in high quality, user friendly written reportsDemonstrated experience in providing HRIS advice and support to managers, and an awareness of how their role contributes to an organisation achieving its outcomesDemonstrated ability to work autonomously and to successfully work to deadlines and timeframesExcellent numerical and analytical experience and demonstrated capability in successfully applying financial and analytical concepts in different payroll and reporting scenario'sPrevious experience and demonstrated successful capability in effectively building the capability of others, including the provision of guidance, coaching, and on-the-job training to less experienced peopleSound interpersonal skills, and the ability to provide a high level of customer service and build and enhance successful relationships with clients and stakeholders.
Proven ability to translate complex language and concepts into plain English for customers and usersStrong time management and organisational skills with strong attention to detail and problem-solving capability, including the ability to identify problems, manage or mitigate risks and implement innovative solutionsExperience to at least an intermediate level with Excel, (you can create and use formulas, VLOOKUPs, and pivot tables)Previous experience with Chris21 would be an advantage but is not absolutely essential.
