Bilingual Lead guide

Line Manager: Operations Manager
Also Reports to: Director
Location: Bay of plenty
Contract: Full time/Permanent
Hours: Minimum 30, maximum 50 per week

Pay: $30 per hour

Position pre-requisites
  • Current First aid certificate
  • Clean New Zealand drivers license with class 2 learners as a minimum.
  • Ability to drive manual.
  • Ability to speak Japanese and English.
  • Experience working with both children and adults.
  • Familiarity with New Zealand Tourism procedures and safety management systems (AMPs, SOPs)
  • At least 1 year of working for a kayak guiding and or outdoor adventure company/organisation.
  • Previous experience in similar roles with the following attributes:
  • Focus on quality of product delivery with Health & safety of both employees and clients, at the forefront
  • Ability to safely load various sizes of trailers with kayaking gear.
  • Can drive and tow a range of vehicles according to the New Zealand Road Laws.
  • Team leadership skills
  • Group facilitator – tour leader
Basic Duties may include but not limited to:
  • Managing up to 10 staff to provide safe high-quality products to ensure clients receive notable experiences.
  • Leading and facilitation of specialised programmes:
Basic Kayaking Sea Kayaking GlowWorm Tours
Team Building and ABLs River Safety Custom Programmes
Stand-up Paddle boarding Rock-Climbing
  • Leading, preparing, catering and facilitating 5 -star Kayak and Big Kanu tours:
  • GlowWorm Kayak Tour Starlight Kayak Tour Wairoa River Tour
Big Kanu GlowWorm Tour Big Kanu Starlight Tour SUP Boarding Tour
Scenic Lake Rotoiti Kayak Tour Scenic Lake McLaren Kayak Tour
  • Managing large groups and giving in depth safety briefings
  • Assisting with routine maintenance of kayak and climbing equipment as required
  • Assist with facilitation and routine procedures of the Adventure Park
  • Demonstrating Waimarino’s values and setting an example for younger staff
