Ngahere Agriculture Ltd operates a 730?ha (600?ha effective) sheep and beef farm, located about 20?km east of Masterton in the Wainuioru community . The local school bus stops at the shepherd’s front gate, there is also a local playgroup beside the school , both 8 kms from the house.
About the farm
Intensive sheep breeding, finishing and trading operation.
Year-round lamb and cattle tradingStrong emphasis on stock performance and farm presentation.
The farm is 1/3 hill, 1/3 rolling and 1/3 flat.
Ideal candidate will have:
At least three years experience on sheep and beef farms.
Strong stockmanship with sheep and cattle.
3 to 5 reliable working dogs under good control.
Ability to work independently and with the manager.
Excellent punctuality and communication skills.
Competency in fencing and routine repairs/maintenance.
Experience with stock movements, mustering and yard work.
Ability to maintain basic animal records and tallies.
Honesty, reliability, good communication and a strong work ethic are a must.
Key duties
General stock work and animal husbandry (e.g. drenching, dagging, truck loading/unloading)Fencing and water system maintenance
Spraying using a quad bike
Keeping gear, sheds and property tidy and well maintained.
