Cook – Living Waters Rest Home

Living Waters Rest Home is a small, family-focused aged-care home in Whanganui, providing a warm, homely environment for our 21 residents. We are looking for a caring and reliable Cook to join our team.

• Location: Living Waters Rest Home, Whanganui
• Hours: 30 hours per week (6 hours per day, Monday to Friday)
• Cooking for up to a maximum of 21 residents

You’ll be responsible for preparing tasty, home-style meals, baking and desserts, and supporting the nutritional needs and wellbeing of our residents.

• Prepare main meals, baking and desserts for residents
• Follow menu plans and cater for dietary needs (e.g. diabetic, texture-modified)
• Ensure meals are well presented, on time and at the right temperature
• Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene and cleanliness in the kitchen
• Safely operate and clean kitchen equipment
• Work with clinical and care staff to support residents’ nutritional needs

About you

We’re looking for someone who is:

• Experienced in cooking for groups (rest home, hospital, café or similar an advantage)
• Confident preparing main meals, baking and desserts to a consistent standard
• Aware of food safety and hygiene requirements (Food Safety cert an advantage)
• Warm, patient and resident-focused, with a genuine care for older people
• Organised, reliable and able to manage your own workload
• A good communicator and a supportive team member

• NZ citizenship, residency or a valid work visa
• Able to pass Police Vetting and other pre-employment checks
