Our home base is located in Lakeside, 35 kms south east of Christchurch.
The position is based at 31 Lower Lake Road, Leeston. You will be required to work beehives located on all our sites, over the Selwyn/Mid Canterbury Area.
The key aim is to manage and maintain beehives to be healthy and productive so they yield honey and other bee products. A large part of our operation is providing pollination services to growers of seed crops - we pride ourselves on delivering top quality, strong double brood hives to our clients.
We require the services of either a Team Leader (Beekeeping) to join our team of highly skilled and experienced staff. The role will primarily be working in our field operations, maintaining and managing your own beehives, whilst leading a team.
OR an Experienced Beekeeper whose duties will include: feeding hives, assessing the health and well being of hives, checking for disease, re-queening, swarm control, putting honey supers on and taking honey off. Other tasks may include hive maintenance, processing of honey and carrying out building, yard and maintenance work as required.
To be considered for the position of Team Leader / Beekeeper, you will ideally:- have a minimum of 3 years commercial beekeeping experience;
- have experience leading a team;
- hold a AFB recognition test qualification;
- hold a full NZ Divers License; and
- be able to work additional hours as required
- clean class 2 license or be working towards;
- hold a Forklift / OSH Certificate
- be strong, fit and healthy as heavy lifting will be involved;
- be a team player with a strong work ethic;
- be able to problem solve by thinking outside the square;
- excellent communication skills;
- have a high attention to detail; and
- self motivated (reliable)

Hours of work will be - minimum 40 per week, during usual business hours. Additional hours may be available during pollination season, honey flow etc., some flexibility will be required.PERMANENT full-time position.
