Key ResponsibilitiesManage day-to-day retail store operations and ensure the best customer experience.
- Lead, train, and support retail staff to maintain high performance and exceptional service.
- Develop sales strategies tailored to outdoor gear and apparels.
- Oversee inventory, stock levels, products, POS and CRM systems.
- Develop and deliver marketing, social media and content strategies across platforms including Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube.
- Create and publish high-quality content including short videos, photos, gear reviews, blogs on outdoor gear, posters, email campaigns, website content, locations, how to use products and promote the outdoors.
- Engage with customers online and in-store to build brand loyalty and community.
- Collaborate with outdoor brands, community groups, and sponsors for event and marketing opportunities.
- Monitor social media analytics and store performance metrics to optimize strategies.
- Organise and deliver small and large scale local events for our outdoor community to drive engagement and sales.
- Lead event planning and promotional activities related to our Nelson Film Festival event, including marketing, and community partnerships.
- Stay informed on outdoor retail trends and emerging digital content trends.
Website & E-Commerce
Maintain and update our Shopify website including product descriptions, images, product uploads, pricing, inventory sync, and merchandising.
Ensure online promotions and product launches align with in-store campaigns.
Troubleshoot basic website issues and coordinate with tech support or developers when needed.
Monitor online orders, customer inquiries, and fulfillment processes.
Keep website content, banners, and event pages and images current — including the Nelson Film Festival page.
Manage and update Google Business Profile to build the business.
Qualifications- Two years previous experience in retail management in outdoor or lifestyle industries.
- Extensive knowledge of outdoor gear and products.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Two years experience creating content for website and social media platforms and understanding of digital marketing strategies..
- Knowledge of content editing tools such as Canva, CapCut, or similar.
- Experience of engaging communities within the outdoor industry.
- Experience planning events, marketing, managing participants, preferably in community or outdoor sectors.
- Ability to manage multi-stakeholder collaborations such as film festivals and outdoor event partnerships.
- Ability to multitask and manage both in-store and online responsibilities.
- Creative, enthusiastic, and passionate about outdoor adventure and community building.
- Ability to work weekends, public holidays, and events.
- Experience managing Shopify or similar e-commerce or CRM platforms.
- Understanding of website content updates, product listings, and basic troubleshooting.
- Ability to maintain consistent brand experience across storefront and online shop.
