Tirohia tēnei.Aroturuki Tamariki, the Independent Children's Monitor, monitors the oranga tamariki system, providing insights that drive continuous improvement and improves outcomes for tamariki (children) and rangatahi (young people), particularly tamariki Māori and children with disabilities.Our Monitors are the public face of Aroturuki Tamariki. They work in teams, engaging with the community to understand and record the experience of whānau, tamariki and rangatahi, family, professionals, caregivers and others who work with those involved in the care and protection and/or youth justice pathways. We analyse what we hear from communities we visit, alongside the nationwide data and information we collect. We use this analysis to inform our reports.We are looking for people with:
  • a social work or equivalent qualificationan understanding of child protection and youth justice practice, as well as understanding the oranga tamariki systemability to build meaningful connections with a wide range of people and organisations able to engage with tamariki and rangatahi and their whānau knowledge, experience, capability and understanding of tikanga Māori and te reo Māorifacilitation skills ability to note take effectively and record relevant information from monitoring activities Our values are Kia Māia

We are supportive of flexible working arrangements.Starting salaries are negotiated based on relevant skills and experience, our salary range for this role is $68,660
