About the Role
Support people through their mental health recovery journey within a structured inpatient environment. As a Mental Health Care Assistant, you will work alongside Registered Nurses to deliver safe, compassionate care, assist with daily activities, and contribute to a therapeutic setting that promotes wellbeing, dignity, and recovery.
About the Team/Service/Location
Te Whare Maiangiangi Mental Health and Addictions Inpatient Unit at Tauranga Hospital provides care for individuals experiencing acute mental health needs. The multidisciplinary team includes nurses, allied health professionals, and medical staff working together to deliver high quality, recovery focused care.The service is grounded in strong teamwork, support, and a shared commitment to improving outcomes for Tangata Whaiora. Based in Tauranga, the role offers the opportunity to work within a supportive clinical environment while enjoying a vibrant coastal lifestyle.

About You
You will be a compassionate and reliable Health Care Assistant who is committed to supporting people experiencing mental health challenges. You work well as part of a team, communicate clearly, and approach your work with patience and respect.You bring a calm and steady presence to the clinical environment, support safe care practices, and contribute positively to a team focused on recovery and wellbeing.
What you will bring:
NZQA Level 4 Certificate in Health Care Assistance or equivalent qualificationExperience working as a Health Care Assistant or within a relevant healthcare or support service
Ability to work rostered shifts within an inpatient setting
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Commitment to delivering safe, respectful, and patient centred care
Understanding of culturally responsive practice and working with diverse communities
