Prepress lead

This hands-on role is responsible for preparing and processing artwork files for print production using Heidelberg Prinect Workflow and Kodak Prinergy.

Key Responsibilities: Prepare and process print-ready artwork using Prinect and Prinergy workflows

Pre-flight, trap, impose and proof artwork files to meet production and client specifications
Manage and maintain prepress production schedules in coordination with the production team
Create imposition layouts for various press sizes and finishing requirements
Calibrate proofing devices and RIPs as needed
Liaise with internal departments (sales, customer service, production) to clarify file specs and schedules
Maintain digital file integrity and archive job files
Troubleshoot and resolve file issues prior to press
Ensure files meet internal colour standards and client expectations (e.g., FOGRA, GRACoL)
Assist with development of automation scripts and workflow improvements

Support the adoption of sustainable prepress practices and error-reduction processes

Skills & Qualifications: Minimum 3 years’ experience in a prepress environment (commercial or packaging print)

Proficient in Heidelberg Prinect Production Manager and Kodak Prinergy Workflow
Strong knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat)
Experience with PMS/CMYK colour workflows, proofing, and digital platesetting

Understanding of printing processes: offset (sheetfed), digital, packaging

Familiarity with JDF/JMF and automated job ticketing (preferred)
Meticulous attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and consistency
Strong communication and time management skills

Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment

Desirable: Experience working in a packaging print environment

Knowledge of Esko software or other workflow systems is a plus

Knowledge of FSC/PEFC chain-of-custody requirements
