Experienced Drainage Operator

APS Civil NZ is a growing civil construction company delivering high-quality civil projects across Auckland/ Waikato. We’re on the lookout for an experienced Excavator Operator with strong drainage experience to join our team.

This role is ideal for an operator who specializes in drainage installation and precision excavation. You’ll be joining a young established drain laying crew. Working on a variety of civil projects including stormwater, sewer, earthworks and infrastructure upgrades, where accuracy and efficiency are critical.

• Operate a range of excavators (1.7t – 30t)
• Install stormwater, sewer, and drainage systems to design grade
• Carry out trenching, bedding preparation, and backfilling
• Read and interpret plans and set out levels
• Work closely with pipe crews and site supervisors
• Complete daily pre-start checks and basic maintenance
• Maintain a strong focus on health, safety, and environmental standards

• Proven experience in civil drainage works
• Strong ability operating GPS-equipped excavators
• High level of accuracy with levels and grade control
• WTR endorsement (preferred)
• Class 2 licence (preferred)
• Good understanding of site plans and drainage layouts
• Reliable, motivated, and a strong team player
