Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Mechanic

About the role

• Installation:Install HVAC and refrigeration equipment, including compressors, motors, condensers, evaporators, switches, gauges, and copper lines.
• Maintenance:Perform routine maintenance tasks to ensure systems are operating efficiently and safely.
• Repair:Diagnose and repair faults in HVAC and refrigeration systems, replacing defective components as needed.
• Testing:Test-operate refrigeration systems, check mechanisms, and make adjustments.
• Safety:Ensure compliance with relevant safety regulations and standards.
• Customer Service:Provide exceptional customer service while handling installations, maintenance, and repairs.
• Troubleshooting:Troubleshoot and diagnose technical issues related to HVAC and refrigeration equipment.
• Record Keeping:Record causes of malfunctioning and action taken.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Technical Skills: Strong understanding of HVAC and refrigeration systems, installation techniques, and industry standards.
• Problem-Solving: Ability to diagnose and solve technical problems related to HVAC and refrigeration equipment.
• Physical Skills: Ability to work accurately with their hands, follow health and safety guidelines, and be comfortable working in enclosed spaces and at heights.
• Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with customers and colleagues.
• Experience: At least 5+ years of trade-qualified experience in HVAC installation or relevant qualifications.
• Certifications: Valid HVAC technician license and relevant certifications are preferred; training can be provided for the right candidates.
• On-Call: Participate in on-call roster for reactive breakdowns.

The candidates must be NZ residents or have a valid visa. A valid driver's licence and the ability to travel throughout Waikato, Auckland, and Bay of Plenty to customer sites as needed are also required.
