Health New Zealand - Counties Manukau Radiology is located in South Auckland across Middlemore Hospital, Kidz First Children's Hospital and Manukau Health Park (MHP) and is at the forefront of innovative health care delivery with the New Zealand Public Health Sector.

Middlemore Hospital includes the National Burns Centre and is a major trauma hospital specialising in spinal and plastics. Our busy department serves a diverse community and is rapidly growing with planned expansion, including new premises at MHP opening in 2026.

Our Radiology department is large and diverse with state of the art medical imaging equipment that includes:

3 MRI Scanners 3T and 1.5T MRI scanners (4 from mid-2026)

13 General x-ray rooms, all with DR

Two dedicated angiography suites

A specialist radiology theatre service

Five CT scanners performing acute and elective CT scans, including Cardiac CT

2 Cardiac catheter suites

This position is 4 days/32 hours a week with rostering to include MRI on-call and contribution to MIT roster.The successful applicant will need to hold an annual practicing certificate in both MIT and MRI scopes with the New Zealand Medical Radiation Technologist Board.This position is one of three in the MRI MIT leadership team and reports to the Modality Lead.

Key responsibilities include supporting the MRI Team, contributing to the MRI service delivery, supervising and assessing the MRI Trainees and proving leadership coverage in absence of the Modality Lead.

To be successful you will require experience in a hospital setting and ideally have 2 years post-graduate MRI experience.If you are a team player who enjoys sharing their expertise and knowledge, is motivated, innovative and organised.If you are looking for an opportunity for career development, then this could be the role for you.

The service is busy and growing, we do breast, cardiac and paediatric MRI and youll be working within a team of MRI Techs, MRI Trainees, SMOs, MRI Fellows, Nursing and administration who are strongly committed to providing a quality service.
