Swim School Instructor
About the Role
Stratford District Council is recruiting for Swim School Instructors to join the fun, friendly Wai o Rua Aquatic Centre team, where making a difference in the water is part of every day.
In this role, you will be responsible for delivering high quality, engaging swim lessons in a safe and supportive environment. You will share your experience and confidence in the water to help learners of all ages build essential swimming and water safety skills.
There are both part time and casual roles available. The position will be based at Wai o Rua - Stratford Aquatic Centre, 53 Portia Street, Stratford. The salary range for this position is $23.95 to $30 per hour, with the starting rate based on the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.

About You
You will have a recognised swim teaching qualification such as an SNZ Assistant Swim Teacher Award, Austswim Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety, or an equivalent aquatics qualification, along with a current first aid certificate. Applicants who do not yet hold all required qualifications but are willing and committed to gaining them may still be considered.
You have experience teaching, coaching or instructing, and enjoy working with people in a supportive, encouraging way. You bring maturity, calmness and confidence to your teaching style, are comfortable working with learners at different stages, and value creating a positive environment where people feel safe, capable and motivated.This role is well suited to experienced instructors or teachers returning to the workforce who are looking for flexible hours and meaningful, hands on work.
