Ko wai tatou | Who We Are:

Moana New Zealand is the largest Maori owned fisheries company in New Zealand.

Our story is about true connection, and we are here so people will always be able to share in the true taste and rare magic of New Zealand’s best seafood.

Our oysters are wild farmed in the pristine tidal waters of New Zealand and our Pacific oysters perfectly capture the freshness and vitality of the waters they are harvested from.

He aha tau e mahi ana | What You’ll Be doing:

With significant investment and support, and a talented team with big ambitions we are looking to bring on key talent to join our pacific oyster hatchery and nursery operations in Nelson to help us unlock the potential of a fully integrated oyster business.

Working as part of a small team you will have a genuine interest in, and knowledge of, shellfish hatchery techniques. Ideally this will be backed up by practical work experience in micro-algae production and/or larvae rearing in a hatchery environment.

This is a role where you will need previous experience in a related role and/or industry.

You must be hardworking, process-oriented and committed to delivering a high standard of work. A keen interest and/or experience in implementing aquatic biosecurity practices would be beneficial. A team player, your reputation as an honest, and down-to-earth person, will precede you.

No job will be too small or too big and you will be equally comfortable working autonomously or collaborating with others.

You must be an effective communicator, with a high degree of common sense and integrity, and take pride in your work and being part of a high achieving team. Please note the team’s work on rotation to cover weekend tasks.

If you would like to step into the future with Moana New Zealand and be part of a game changing team, transforming the way oysters are grown and farmed, then please submit an application to the position of Hatchery Technician, by emailing a resume C/o Moana NZ’s Recruitment Team, to recruitment@moana.co.nz. Please put job title in subject box.

  1. 00 pm, Friday 25 July 2025.
