Production Manager (2IC) - Wingpoint Dairy
The Opportunity**
Are you an experienced farm assistant looking for the next step in your farming career, join this supportive and friendly team who all work well together, as 2IC you will also work closely with the Farm Manager.
You will help to implement farm plans and take on a degree of responsibility for feed allocation, animal health and breeding and animal records. You will also be happy to muck in and support the team where needed.
On the Farm Managers Day off, you will take responsibility for the team, ensuring this run smoothly.
We are flexible with the start date and willing to work with the right candidate.
**The Farm**
Wingpoint Dairy is a 330 effective ha block, milking 780 cows twice a day through a 70-bail rotary, situated 15 minutes from Martinborough and 20 minutes south of Featherston. We also have an additional 96 effective ha support block 10 min up the road.
The school bus and lots of recreational activities are close by, and as the farm is bordering Greytown and Martinborough, there are plenty of community events.
**About You**
You are self-motivated and passionate about dairy farming, wanting to grow your career and develop your leadership skills.
You will have:
- Proven dairy experience in grazing and animal health
- A commitment to individual and team development
- Pasture management and feed planning skills
- High standards of animal welfare and commitment to health and safety
- Self-motivation and initiative, able to problem-solve
- Current and full NZ driver’s licence
- Experience driving farm machinery/tractors (a bonus)
