WHERE
This family-owned Central Hawke's Bay property, just 16 minutes from Waipukurau, operates an intensive finishing system across 1,000 hectares, including 750 hectares of easy rolling country. Well-established systems and strong infrastructure, including 5-way drafters and conveyor systems, support efficient stock movement and processing.
Technology plays a key role, with Farmax, mobile apps, and spreadsheets used to manage stock health, weights, and rotations. Gallagher halters have recently been introduced, with 120 in use and plans to expand to 400 by spring. The farm finishes around 25,000 lambs and 800 bulls each season.
WHAT
As the Stock Manager you will be fully responsible for the day-to-day organisation and management of the stock on farm. With proven well-established systems in place, the operation runs smoothly and efficiently when followed. You will bring a good understanding of measuring and monitoring of stock along with a solid level of technical knowledge.
The key responsibilities include:
- Stock Management.
- Grazing Management.
- Fences/water.
- Planning & delivery (organising casuals/crutching trailer).
- Have strong communication (verbal and written).

WHO
Our client is looking for a Stock Manager with good knowledge of finishing systems and a keen interest in technology. The below are also key to success in this role:
- Excellent stock person, good eye for stock.
- Good pasture management.
- Strong team of 5 working dogs.
- Be well planned and organised, but able to be flexible.
- Have strong communication verbal and written.
- Modern, well-run operation with strong relationships across contractors and suppliers.
- Large-scale finishing operation with excellent infrastructure, providing exposure to big mustering, scale, and genuine ownership of tasks.
- A mixed land unit farming system offering variety in day-to-day work.
