This is a permanent, full-time role.Public health nursing includes assessment of personal and population health, attention to the multiple determinants of health, an emphasis on primary prevention, immunisation, and continued commitment to best evidence based public health nursing practice.In this role you will deliver comprehensive youth/rangatahi health assessments in a school setting.

This will include supporting generic Public Health Nursing work inclusive of immunisations/ home visiting, health and wellbeing of whānau in the community setting.The successful applicant will primarily be based in one local high school working alongside muti disciplinary education and health teams and services.About the Team/Service/ LocationThe public health nursing team is part of the National Public Health Service (NPHS) within Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora, and work towards Pae Ora (healthy futures for all) by engaging with the wider determinants that impact people's health, focusing on oranga/wellbeing, prevention, protection, and population-level intervention.

You build and maintain positive relationships at all levels and model an agile approach, you learn quickly, adapt fast. You are able to utilise advanced nursing knowledge and skills through reflective practice, critical thinking and professional judgement to provide competent care and advice while working to top of scope.Skills and ExperienceCurrent registration with Nursing Council of New Zealand as Registered Nurse and hold a current Annual Practising Certificate3+ years clinical experience, Authorised Vaccinator or interest in completing training, demonstrate a high level of clinical expertise and clinical judgement, particularly when working with children and adolescentsHold or be working towards a minimum of a competent portfolio in an approved PDRP or equivalent with a commitment to continue through the programmeChild and whānau health related experienceAbility to work within a team and autonomouslyProven experience and competence using Patient Management SystemsAn eye for detail and commitment for continuous quality improvementExcellent interpersonal and communication skillsFull, New Zealand drivers licenceWith the support of Health NZ, you will proactively take care of your own health and safety, to ensure a safe and supportive work environmentWorking for Health New ZealandHealth New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is dedicated to ensuring excellent healthcare for the people of New Zealand.
