Our commitment is to the highest level of clinical cardiac care to our patients from central and Regional Auckland/Northland, as well as across the rest of New Zealand.Cardiology services that provide high quality care to patients, our Cardiology service has both elective and acute admissions for a range of procedures and illnesses including CT coronary angiography (CTCA), first line investigation for the evaluation of both acute and chronic chest pain in accordance with international guidelinesAbout the RoleThis role will be responsible for the triaging (criteria led/appropriateness) of CTCA referrals from within Cardiology and General medical service, and outpatient CTCA referralsThe role is accountable in improving access to inpatient CTCA at here at Auckland City Hospital with increased efficiency, shortened ED stay, reduced wait times, reduced need for cardiology outpatient appointment and better enactment of Te Tiriti o WaitangiProvision of more timely treatment for Maori than is currently being delivered, patient care and education to our Maori Patients who are overrepresented in heart health statistics, all vital to improving equity outcomes for Maori patients and their whanauCo-ordination and care of all inpatients on CTCA pathway, booking and consent of patient for CTCA, IV access, assessment of patient for betablockers (CTCA criteria), facilitating the transiting to from Radiology, patient care in CT roomWill assist in reducing downstream testing and need for invasive coronary angiogram for some patients with suspected Acute Coronary Syndrome.Contribute to reduced wait times to the outpatient CTCA programme.Data entry into dedicated regional CTCA database for clinical audit and researchAs well as the sub-speciality of patients requiring CTCA at Te Toka Tumai, the role will work collaboratively alongside other Cardiology Interventional and Structural Heart Nurse Specialists one day a week to specifically deliver care to the patient speciality population requiring TEER (Transcatheter Edge to Edge Repair) for MR.
