Exciting opportunities are available for Process Workers to join the Whakatohea Mussels team.Previous experience within a manufacturing/food processing environment will be considered an advantage but not essential.
We are looking for loyal, hardworking, reliable, dependable individuals who have a willingness to learn.
Details:- We are offering seasonal (fixed term) full-time employment opportunities
- Day shift roster pattern is Monday to Friday 6:30am to 4:30pm – 40+ hours per week
- Afternoon shift roster pattern is Monday to Friday 3:30pm to 12am – 40+ hours per week
- Evening shift roster pattern is Monday to Friday 10pm to 6am – 40+ hours per week
- Additional hours and weekend work will be required, so flexibility is a must
- Starting rate is $23.69 gross per hour
A Process Worker is responsible for carrying out various tasks in the production process as directed, which may include mussel opening, grading, packing, warehousing and logistics tasks, and hygiene tasks. This role requires flexibility, adaptability, and a willingness to work across production and warehousing and logistics to meet operational demands.
Opener:- Open steamed greenshell mussels in accordance with safety protocols and food hygiene standards, meeting daily individual KPIs.
- Piece Rate Bonus may apply. There is potential to earn more money based on our Piece Rate Bonus structure applicable only for Mussel Openers.
- Knife handling skills.
- Working to customer specifications.
- Grade greenshell mussels in accordance with safety protocols and food hygiene standards, meeting daily individual KPIs.
- Working to customer specifications.
- Pack greenshell mussels in accordance with safety protocols and food hygiene standards, meeting daily individual KPIs.
- Working to customer specifications.
- Hygienically clean and store harvesting and grading bags.
- Grade product to required specifications.
- Stack and label product.
- Operate a forklift safely (must have prior experience and hold a current Forklift Operator Certification).
- Clean and strip down the plant and machinery meeting the Food Safety, Hygiene and Biological Standards within the processing factory whilst maintaining output and quality expectations within safety guidelines.
- Ensure cleaning flows are undertaken in an efficient and productive manner.

- Are able to stand and work in a temperature controlled environment for up to 3-4-hour periods at a time
- Are physically fit
