The OpportunityWe are seeking an experienced registered nurse to join our Vascular Access and Medicines Management Service here at Waikato District Health Board. As a successful Vascular Access and Medicines Management Registered Nurse you will play a key role in supporting patients referred by clinical teams for intravenous access by peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC) lines and other types of vascular access.
An integral part of this role is providing education to patients and whanau prior to the procedure and at post insertion follow-up.Along with this you will be working with the CNS team to support the nurses and midwives to develop their knowledge and skills in the broader field of medicines management.
Key responsibilities of the role:On a daily basis you will:Assess and prioritise patient referrals so that they receive treatment in a timely manner.Insert PICC and other vascular devicesFollow up with patients post insertionWork with the CNS and other members of the team to teach and develop skills in others Click here to view the position description.

About youRequirements:We are looking for a registered nurse who is:An expert practitioner in the placement of peripheral IV with experience in ultrasound guided peripheral IV placement.Holds all relevant Certification/technical skills validation in Medicine Management particularly Central Venous Access Device (CVAD) certification/validation.Able to quickly build therapeutic relationships with patients and whanau with a passion for supporting people to maximise their recovery and health.Confident to work independently while also working within a supportive team.

Desirable:Certification/skills validation and experience for Implanted Port management.Working towards relevant post graduate qualification.
