Cooks

The successful candidates will work across our restaurant and takeaway locations, contributing to the preparation and delivery of high-quality Chinese cuisine.

This is a full-time permanent role with a minimum of a guaranteed 40 hours at the rate of $28 to $31 per hour.

As a Cook, you will be responsible for preparing, seasoning, and cooking a wide range of dishes in accordance with our menu standards and food safety guidelines.

Your duties may include but are not limited to:

• Examine food ingredients and dishes to ensure quality, freshness, and correct presentation.
• Prepare and cook Chinese dishes such as stir-fries, soups, braised meats, noodles, rice dishes, and dumplings.
• Operate kitchen equipment including high-heat wok stations, steamers, and deep fryers.
• Regulate cooking temperatures and timings for different types of dishes.
• Season food appropriately during cooking and adjust flavors based on menu specifications.
• Portion and plate dishes with appropriate garnishes and sauces in line with standards.
• Store ingredients and cooked food in temperature-controlled conditions.
• Prepare food according to any special dietary requirements or customer requests.
• Plan menu and estimate food and ingredient requirements.
• Train and support junior kitchen staff in Chinese cooking techniques and kitchen hygiene.
• Ensure kitchen cleanliness, personal hygiene, and compliance with food safety standards at all times.

Requirements:

• At least 18 months relevant work experience in a Chinese commercial kitchen.
• Solid Chinese cooking techniques, including wok frying, steaming, roasting, and dumpling preparation.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and sanitation.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to stand for extended periods of time and lift heavy objects.
• Able to provide written reference from your previous employers to do reference check.
