We’re a locally owned café serving great food, exceptional coffee, and warm hospitality in the heart of Wanaka. We’re on the lookout for a passionate and reliable Café Chef to join our kitchen team. Position Purpose:

To assist in the preparation, cooking, and presentation of food for the cabinet and à la carte menu, following health, safety, and food hygiene standards. The role supports the Head Chef in daily kitchen operations and includes some independent food preparation and baking.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and cook dishes for breakfast, lunch, and cabinet offering
• Assist in baking and food prep in line with café standards
• Maintain cleanliness and food safety compliance in the kitchen
• Work both independently and collaboratively with the Head Chef
• Occasionally assist in catering prep and events
• Optional: support front-of-house staff if experienced and required, could boost hours to 35-40 weekly.

Team Size: 2 staff in the kitchen, larger front-of-house team

(no night shifts; flexibility possible!!!)

• Prior café or commercial kitchen experience (recommended: 6+ months)
• Understanding of food safety and hygiene standards
• Ability to follow directions and work independently when needed
• A positive attitude, willingness to learn, and good team communication
• Barista or customer service experience is a bonus (not required)
