Baygold is on the lookout for skilled and experienced Mobile Plant Operators to join our construction team in the Western Bay of Plenty. In this hands-on role, you’ll support the construction and maintenance of world-class Kiwifruit orchards, operating a variety of mobile plant equipment and attachments to carry out essential tasks across our orchard sites.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate either a 3.0 m or 6.5 m Hydralada
  • Navigate mobile plant equipment across orchard locations
  • Select and attach the correct fittings to each machine
  • Use mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical controls to move materials and operate attachments

Carry out tasks such as:

  • High-shelter and cloth preparation
  • Pole work - including distributing and ramming poles
  • Cable and wire setup
  • Monitor machinery performance via control-panel readings
  • Perform minor repairs and report mechanical issues promptly
  • Maintain machinery condition with regular checks and upkeep

Operate additional equipment including:

  • Forklifts, JCB/Skid Steer, tractors, quad bikes, winches, strainers, and other attachments/tools
  • Follow The Baygold Way by adhering to all Health & Safety procedures an identifying and reporting hazards and risks proactively

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you’ll need:

  • NZQF Level 4 qualification
or
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience
  • Ability to perform basic measurements and mathematical calculations
  • Comfortable and skilled working at heights
  • Working at Heights certification (or equivalent experience)
  • Physically strong and fit, with a focus on safe work practices
  • Clean NZ driver’s licence and reliable transport

Desirable:

  • Wheels and Tracks certificate
  • Forklift license
