Heavy Diesel Mechanic

About the role

We are seeking a trade certified heavy diesel mechanic, with minimum 7 years experience working with heavy earthmoving and construction equipment.

To be considered for this role, you must have experience in:

• Detecting and diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults in engines and parts with a focus on heavy diesel
• Dismantling and removing engine assemblies, transmissions, steering mechanisms and other components, and checking parts
• Repairing and replacing worn and defective parts and reassembling mechanical components, and referring to service manuals as needed
• Performing scheduled maintenance services, such as oil changes, lubrications and engine tune-ups, to achieve smoother running of vehicles and ensure compliance with pollution regulations
• Reassembling engines and parts after being repaired
• Testing and adjusting mechanical parts after being repaired for proper performance
• Diagnosing and testing parts with the assistance of computers
• Inspect vehicles roadworthiness
• Respond to vehicle breakdown calls

• Experience with writing up jobs and assisting with invoice preparations would be an advantage.
• Excellent written English
• A full, current drivers licence
• Strong work ethic and reliability
• The ability to work un-supervised
• A positive attitude and be a good team worker
• Organised work practices with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
• Good communication skills
• Good understanding of and adherence to Health and Safety requirements
