WHO WE ARE
Silver Fern Motorsport Charitable Trust is a not-for-profit organisation established in 2010, delivering free driver licence training programmes and road safety initiatives across Auckland and the Waikato. Through our Drive Care programme, we help youth and vulnerable adults overcome barriers to gaining their licence while promoting safer driving behaviours and better road safety outcomes.Our focus is improving licence compliance among higher-risk groups by removing barriers such as cost, confidence, identification, transport and limited support networks.
ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking a motivated Community Road Safety Educator to lead learner licence training programmes and road safety education in community, school and partner settings.This role focuses on hazard identification, risk awareness and helping participants make safer decisions before entering the road network. You will deliver engaging training, support testing days and help participants progress through the licensing pathway.
WHAT YOU WILL DO- Deliver learner licence training in small and large group settings across West Auckland, South Auckland and North Waikato
- Teach the New Zealand Road Code and prepare participants for learner licence testing
- Deliver road safety education covering hazards, defensive driving and responsible behaviour
- Teach participants to recognise risks involving speed, distractions, pedestrians, weather, fatigue and impairment
- Coordinate and support testing days with testing agents and community officers
- Support participants facing barriers such as confidence, literacy, anxiety, organisation, transport or ID needs
- Assist participants to obtain photo identification and documents required for testing
- Encourage attendance, confidence, independence and successful outcomes
- Collect participant feedback and support programme improvement
- Manage enrolments, referrals and identify support needs early
- Work closely with staff, community partners and referral agencies
- Ensure consent, privacy and compliance requirements are completed
- Maintain accurate records, notes and outcomes data
- Prepare reports, case studies and programme information for management
- Develop presentations to support training
- Experience in education or training
- Strong knowledge of New Zealand driver licensing processes and road rules
- Confidence delivering training to groups of different sizes
- Ability to engage positively with young people and vulnerable adults facing barriers
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Positive, patient and motivational approach
- Able to work independently and manage time well
- Innovative mindset with ideas to improve delivery
- Strong IT skills including Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, email and cloud systems
- Full New Zealand driver licence and clean record
- Clean police record and ability to pass vetting checks
- Two professional referees, including most recent employer
- Full time stable employment
- Salary of $66,560 plus KiwiSaver (if applicable)
