Second-in-Charge (2IC) Receptionist / Manager
We are looking for a part-time hospitality superstar to step in as Second-in-Charge (2IC) Receptionist/Manager at our busy Waterfront Apartments and Beach Motel, with a combined total of 27 properties across two neighbouring sites right on the stunning waterfront in Kaikoura.
This is not your average front desk role - it's a chance to combine your love of people, your knack for tech and your eye for detail to help deliver memorable stays that guests rave about. You'll be the right hand to the Manager, stepping up to lead when needed, keeping operations smooth and ensuring every guest leaves wanting to return.
Key Responsibilities:
Be our permanent part-time guest relations specialist, acting as receptionist or 21C Manager, dedicated to taking over in a full-time capacity at a later date.
Partner with the Manager to oversee daily operations, ensuring exceptional guest service from booking to check-out.
Cover the manager on their days off (may include overnight stays).
Manage online booking channels (Airbnb, Booking.com, Expedia) and property management systems with speed and accuracy.
Coordinate housekeeping schedules and quality checks to maintain our 5-star standards.
Greet and farewell guests, process payments and resolve issues promptly.
Monitor maintenance needs and liaise with contractors to keep everything running perfectly.
Step into the Manager role during absences to ensure seamless operations.
About You:
Hospitality experience in hotels, motels, or short-term rentals.
Confident with booking platforms and tech - you know your way around systems and love finding smarter ways to work.
A natural people person with warm communication skills and a genuine service mindset.
Highly organised, proactive and able to juggle tasks without dropping the ball.
Flexible availability, including weekends and public holidays.
