Description:

About The Job

At Waipuna Hospice, quality and safety are not compliance exercises, they’re how we care for our people, our patients, and our community. We are seeking an experienced Quality, Risk & Safety Lead to provide organisation-wide leadership across health & safety, risk management, quality systems, and continuous improvement.

This is an influential role for someone who thrives on building strong frameworks and strong relationships, and who can confidently guide leaders through complexity with clarity and calm.

Reporting to the Director of People, Culture & Assurance, you will lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of organisational quality, risk, and health & safety systems. You will work across clinical and non-clinical services to ensure compliance, embed best practice, and support a culture where safe, high-quality care is everyone’s responsibility.

You’ll be equally comfortable analysing data and trends, leading incident investigations, coaching leaders, and influencing at all levels of the organisation.

Skills and Experiences:

About You

We are seeking someone who brings experience, professional maturity, and sound judgement, alongside strong systems thinking and administrative capability.

You will ideally have a background in quality and risk, with confidence in understanding and applying risk management frameworks and processes. You are highly organised, structured, and detail-focused, with exceptional administrative and digital capability, including strong experience using document and information management systems such as SharePoint.

You bring a discerning, methodical mindset and understand the critical differences between policies, procedures and guidelines, and why getting this right matters in practice. You build respectful, credible relationships with ease and are comfortable influencing and supporting others through trust and professionalism.

You are naturally curious about how systems can work better, motivated by continuous improvement, and energised by helping teams and individuals realise their potential.
