About the Role
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Nurse Practitioner to join our General Adult Community Mental Health Addictions team in Kaikohe. This is an exciting opportunity to work within the Reducing Demand for Methamphetamine (RDM) programme, supporting flexible, community-based care across hospital, primary care, outreach and whanau settings.
This role focuses on advanced clinical assessment, prescribing, withdrawal management (detox), stabilisation, and integrated care coordination for tangata whai ora experiencing alcohol and other drug (AOD) harm, with a strong focus on methamphetamine-related presentations.You will work across Te Ara Oranga, Screening, Brief Intervention Referral to Treatment, primary care, iwi providers, peer support services and wider community pathways to improve access, equity and recovery outcomes for whanau across the Mid North.
As Nurse Practitioner, you will provide advanced clinical leadership and direct care across a range of settings including:
Community and outreach environmentsRural and remote locations
Hospital and AM interfaces
Partner provider sites
Telehealth and flexible delivery settings
You will support:
Withdrawal management and detox pathwaysPrescribing and stabilisation
Complex AOD and mental health presentations
Whanau-centre treatment planning
Integrated care coordination across services
Workforce capability and clinical leadership
Culturally grounded and equity-focused care delivery

About the Team/Service/Location
This role is part of the General Adult Community Mental Health and Addictions team, based in Te Tai Tokerau Kaikohe, in the Mid North. Our team delivers care to our rural and coastal communities. We are committed to the needs of whanau and hapu wellbeing to ensure both cultural and clinical excellence.

About you
We are looking for someone who brings:
Nurse Practitioner registration (preferred), or advanced prescribing pathway experienceStrong experience in mental health and/or addictions
Advanced clinical assessment and decision-making skills
Experience in withdrawal management and AOD treatment
Confidence working across multidisciplinary and cross-sector teams
Commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and equitable outcomes for Maori
Culturally safe, whanau-centre and mana-enhancing practice
Ability to work flexibly across community and rural settings
Experience working within Te Tai Tokerau, Te Ara Oranga, or similar integrated service models would be highly valued.
