It has the largest population of any health district.North Shore Hospital is accessed by Shakespeare Road in Takapuna, and is situated on the shores of Lake Pupuke. The ward tower block overlooks the Rangitoto Channel and the majestic Rangitoto Island on one side, and the Waitemata Harbour with views extending towards Auckland City on the other.Waitākere Hospital is located at the foot of the magnificent Waitākere Ranges, close to the black volcanic sand beaches of the west coast.
