Bassett Plumbing & Drainage Ltd is a specialist contractor delivering Plumbing, Drainage & Civil services across residential, commercial and infrastructure projects in the greater Auckland area. We are seeking a detail driven Estimator to strengthen our estimating team.
You will be responsible for take-offs, pricing, and the bid submission process, working closely with management, operations and clients to deliver accurate, competitive tenders.
Key responsibilities:- Review drawings, specifications, BIM models, site information and perform detailed quantity take-offs including pipework, fixtures, valves, fittings, pump, stormwater, sanitary, water services, manholes, pits, trenching, bedding & backfill etc
- Prepare estimates, SOQs, and rate build-ups and subcontractor/vendor inquiries and comparisons
- Develop scopes, clarifications, exclusions, and risk registers
- Build and maintain unit-rate databases; value-engineer alternatives
- Issue and evaluate RFIs to suppliers and main contractors, source and negotiate pricing from suppliers
- Support tender interviews and post-award handover to delivery teams
- Track win/loss data and update cost benchmarks
- 5+ years estimating in plumbing, drainage, or mechanical services (or strong project engineering background)
- Solid understanding of codes, pipework systems, civil/groundworks interfaces, and site methodologies
- Proficiency with estimating software such as Ground Plan & Blue Beam
- Ability to manage multiple tenders and meet set tender deadlines
- Excellent communication skills
- Must be a New Zealand citizen/resident
A salary package of $100k p/a is on offer for the right person and is negotiable based on experience.
