The Alpine Group is a family-owned business with operations including Alpine Helicopters, Minaret Station, and Southern Lakes Heliski.

Alpine Helicopters provides a wide range of aerial services under NZCAA Part 91, Part 135, and Part 137 certifications. Services include but are not limited to aerial agricultural operations, aerial filming, fire suppression, lifting, pest control, wild animal recovery, and tourism - including heli-skiing, hunting, and scenic / charter flights.

Alpine Helicopters has bases at Wanaka and Queenstown Airports, but also operates remotely throughout the South Island.

We are looking for a practical, physically fit, and capable crewmember to support our aviation business.

A key responsibility of the role is supporting our wild animal recovery operations (WARO), which includes aerial hunting and recovery of wild animals, cleaning of carcasses, truck driving, and general administration e.g. Supplier Declarations. Applicants must have a solid commitment to aviation safety procedures, operational standards, and compliance.

This is a permanent full-time position based in Wanaka with requirement to work a flexible roster, including weekends and overnights, to meet the operational requirements of the business.

Roles & Responsibilities:
  • Taking all reasonable care to ensure the safety of oneself, others, and any crew or cargo being carried in or under the aircraft
  • Support the wild animal recovery operation (WARO) including aerial shooting & recovery of wild animals, cleaning of carcasses, and load-in / load-out of chilled carcasses
  • General administration, including the preparation of Supplier Declarations, and maintaining any required records and reports, and communicating with landowner representatives
  • Driving support vehicles and trailers to work site locations (must be prepared to overnight at times)
  • Adhere to all safety protocols around firearms and aircraft
  • Cleaning and maintaining machinery, equipment and base areas
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Be practical, physically fit and capable
  • Sound communication, numeracy, and literary skills
  • Previous firearms experience
  • Firearms licence with the ability to qualify for P-CAT licence
  • Keen hunter with strong knife skills, including cleaning and processing of large animals
  • Have a full driver’s licence
  • Sound understanding and respect for safety systems including reporting incidents, accidents and hazards
