Senior Audio Visual (AV) Technician or AV Lead, a role requiring a high degree of technical mastery, project leadership, and a minimum of 10+ years of professional experience in the industry.
Role Overview
As a Senior AV Technician, you will serve as the technical lead for complex event productions and permanent installations. You will be responsible for the end-to-end execution of audio-visual solutions, from initial system design and site assessment to live operation and post-event analysis.This position requires capability of mentoring junior staff and maintaining the highest standards of technical excellence under pressure.
Core Responsibilities- Technical Leadership: Lead the setup, operation, and strike of advanced AV systems
- Mentorship & Supervision: Direct junior and casual AV staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and strict adherence to safety standards.
- Advanced Troubleshooting
- Maintenance & Quality Control: Establish preventative maintenance schedules and perform advanced repairs to ensure events run without technical interruption.
- Experience: A minimum of 10 years of professional experience in audio-visual technology or a related event production field.
- Technical Mastery: Expert proficiency with industry-standard hardware and software
- Networking Expertise: Strong knowledge of video and data networking essential for hybrid and virtual event delivery.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Deep understanding of health and safety legislative requirements, including rigging inspections and electrical safety standards.
- Soft Skills: Exceptional communication skills to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and clients.
- Physical Capability: Fitness to manage heavy equipment and work irregular, long hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Qualifications in Sound Technology, Av Systems
- Specialised Tickets: Rigging, Working at Heights, or EWP (Elevated Work Platform) certifications.
