Indian Cook Responsibilities: South Indian Cook

  • Undertake Menu planning in consultation with Head Chef/Restaurant Manager.
  • Expertly cook a variety of South Indian dishes including chutneys and desserts.
  • Maintaining authentic flavors and high-quality standards.
  • Assist in creating and improving South Indian menu items, ensuring consistency and innovation in recipes.
  • Participate in the preparation, cooking and plating & portioning of meals, snacks, sweets etc.
  • Ensure costings are adhered to in consultation with Head Chef/Manager.
  • Ensure quantities to be cooked and size of portions to be served, misc-en-place to be prepared for the next day etc. are in line with restaurant requirements.
  • Confirm daily raw material order with Head Chef/Manager and ensure that quality of raw materials received are of desired quality and quantity, adequate stocks of raw materials are maintained.
  • Use and clean equipment after usage and ensure it is functioning properly.
  • Ensure necessary hygiene and Health & Safety standards are maintained in all areas.
  • Ensure appropriate clothing, including head wear, is worn by all kitchen team at all times in accordance with the guidelines.
  • Understand responsibilities in relation to fire procedures, health & safety, Work Safe NZ, infection control, food hygiene and emergency aid. Co-operate fully with the statutory inspections and implement recommendations as appropriate.
Baker Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and bake a variety of breads includes Pav and Kulcha, pastries, cakes, and other baked goods according to recipes and quality standards.
  • Measure and mix ingredients accurately using scales, mixers, and other bakery equipment.
  • Monitor baking process and adjust oven temperatures and baking times as needed.
  • Decorate and finish baked products with icing, glazes, or toppings.
  • Ensure all baked goods meet consistency, presentation, and freshness standards.
  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of the work area and baking equipment.
  • Follow food safety and health regulations at all times.
  • Manage inventory of baking supplies and inform management of restocking needs.
  • Assist in developing new recipes or improving existing ones.
  • Work collaboratively with kitchen and service teams to fulfill orders efficiently and on time.

Requirements: Minimum 2-3 years of experience required.

All positions are for a minimum of 30 hours per week with an opportunity to work and earn more during busy periods. Overtime will be paid at $24.50 per hour.
