We offer an environment where you can be yourself!This will be an overview of your role:Engage and build relationships with a diverse range of peopleSecurity screening, operate and maintain CCTV and electronic access control systemsInteracting with other agencies and stakeholders such as Police, Corrections, lawyers, Judicial officers to ensure safe court proceedingsPatrol public areas, carry out building security checks, respond to duress alarm activations, identify, mitigate, respond and report security, health and safety threats and incidents Ō pūkenga/Skills and ExperienceCustomer service, Security, Defence or Government experience is desired but not essential as full training is providedConfident with technologyExperience of de-escalation techniquesPhysical ability to engage and pass qualification requirements in full contact Officer safety trainingHold and maintain a full clean New Zealand drivers' licence and clean criminal recordHave knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, bring an understanding and appreciation of cultural issues and concerns in particular Tikanga Maori, and an understanding of their relevance to the Court Security Role and the Ministry of Justice BenefitsGain confidence within a dynamic environment with a diverse group of peopleKnowledge of relevant legislation and challenging experiencesHealth, safety and security qualification and fully funded trainingA diverse range of study courses to grow and develop including some Leadership opportunitiesTraining in the use of x-ray machine, Walk through and Handheld metal detectors, Security qualifications, use of SRBA, RT, and HandcuffingThis is a 40 hour, Monday to Friday role with paid overtime available when extra cover is required.

Rostered hours may include a minimum 4-hour shift on Saturdays. Mō mātou/About us At Te Tāhū o te Ture - the Ministry of Justice, we're committed to strengthening people's trust in the law of Aotearoa, New Zealand.Taupō District Court would be your home base, however when operational needs necessitate, there can also be a requirement to travel and work in courts in neighbouring regions.
Travel costs are met by the Ministry.Joining Te Tāhū o te Ture means you will become part of an organisation that welcomes and supports people of all gender identities, ages, ethnicities, sexual orientations, disabilities and religions. Utu ā-tau/SalarySalary band for this role is: $60,729 to $80,794.
